My minivan thanks you for the prayers.
And I thank you.
Apparently, I have problems with spark plugs, belts, and various other pieces of equipment that keep my car running and the "Check Engine Soon" light off.
What I don't have, are problems with rods, which, according to my mechanic, is a good thing.
I feel like I'm speaking a foreign language here--I don't care about the description. Just tell me you can fix it and that I don't have to get a new engine or a new vehicle.
So, for a mere $400, my long-suffering van will be fine. Or at least drivable for another year.
Sad that I'm so grateful for that, even when I don't actually have the $400. It's going on my Firestone credit card, which accrues no interest provided I pay it off within 90 days. I actually had to go home and dig the card out of the ice-cube tray where I put it so I won't use it!

Why not consider investing a bit of money to stop the oil leak and getting it in better working order? How much will it cost?
I have a car as old as yours but not as many miles and I figure easily another 5 years, more like 10. If I really keep my car for 20 years I'll have a parade and it will seriously be financially worth it to have bought a toyota. Besides the fact I've spent since I owned it like maybe $1k outside of routine oil changes, tires, brake pads not rotors(once), battery once, and struts once.
Yup, sounds like a Tune Up is/was in order. Fresh oil,new plugs and belts, etc you should be ok for a while. If you make it another year, that's $33.33 a month on car maintenance.

$400 is doable, I'll still send my prayers that $400 will do the trick for a whole year!
That's good to hear. And with the 90 day no interest you just have to manage to come up with $130 odd per month until it comes due. Not a walk in the park, but not as bad as the alternative.
